Lorraine Bell, Class of 1941

Lorraine E. Balis, 78, a life-long resident of Waldron, Mich., passed away Thursday, Sept. 27, 2001, at Hillsdale Community Health Center. She was born Nov. 30, 1922, in Branch County, Michigan, to Franklin and Eulalia (Keller) Bell. She married Paul Balis on March 26, 1944, in Waldron and he preceded her in death on April 1, 1993.

Lorraine retired from Waldron Area Schools. She was a 1941 graduate of Waldron High School and member of Waldron First Church of Christ.

Surviving Lorraine are one son, Garald (Pamela) Balis of Waldron; two granddaughters, Dawn (David) Hauter of Swanton, Ohio; Deborah (John) Bryan of Florence, Ky; three great-grandchildren, Jacob and Katarina Hauter, and Danielle Bryan; one sister, Betty (Ron) Ingersoll of Williston, S.C.. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two daughters, Beverly Balis and Nancy Balis in infancy.

Funeral services for Lorraine Balis will be Monday, Oct. 1, 2001, at 11:00 a.m. at the Waldron First Church of Christ with Russell Hodgman officiating. Interment will follow in Waldron Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 3-6 p.m. at Eagle Funeral Home in Waldron.

Memorial contributions can be made to Waldron First Church of Christ or Waldron Public Library.
