James Briskey, Class of 1951
James P. Briskey, 73, a life-long farmer of Waldron, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2006, at his home. He was
born Nov. 1, 1933, in Toledo, Ohio, to Harry and Eleanor (Kaminski) Briskey. He married Eva Knobloch on
Feb. 27, 1960, in Hudson, Mich., and she survives.
Jim was owner and operator of Prattville Fertilizer and Grain, Briskey Elevator of Quincy and Pittsford Grain. He
graduated from Waldron High School, Class of 1951, was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hudson,
Waldron V.F.W. Leonard T. Simmons Post #5791, served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict and was on the board
of directors at Southern Michigan Bank and Trust for 25 years.
Surviving Jim besides his wife, Eva, of Waldron are four daughters, Barbara (Larry) Fether of Pittsford, Mich.,
Mary (Doug) Shatter of Livonia, Mich., Teresa Boyer of Wauseon, Ohio, and Donna (Brian) Suboski of West Unity, Ohio;
one son, William Briskey of Hudson, Mich.; three sisters, Michelin Dietrich of Osseo, Mich., Pauline (James)
Schaedler of Waldron, Mich., Margaret Briskey of Fayette, Ohio; three brothers, Jerry (Eunice) Briskey of Waldron,
Mich., Paul Briskey of Tecumseh, Mich., and John (Jackie) Briskey of Stryker, Ohio; 16 grandchildren and several
nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Janet Everingham, and one daughter,
Liese Briskey in infancy.
Mass of Christian Burial for Jim Briskey will be Saturday, Dec. 30, 2006, at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church
with Fr. Richard Eberle and Fr. H. Paul Ruddy as celebrants. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Hudson.
Visitation will be Friday from 4:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. with a Vigil Prayer Service at 7:30 p.m. at Eagle Funeral
Home in Hudson.

Endowment Fund or Hospice of Hillsdale County.
