Geraldine E. Cox, Class of 1934
Geraldine E. Cox, age 94, of Bryan Care & Rehabilitation Center and formerly of Hillsdale, Mich., went to be with
Jesus on Sunday, Dec. 6, 2009. She was born Nov. 29, 1915, in Amboy Township, north of Pioneer, Ohio, to William
and Mildred (Hubbard) Robison. She married Leon W. Cox on Nov. 29, 1935, in Pioneer and he preceded her in death
on May 11, 1999.
Geraldine lived her married life in Waldron before moving to the Medical Care Facility in Hillsdale at the age of
87. She was previously employed by the Avon Company for several years and worked at Kustom Fit in Pioneer from
where she retired. Geraldine graduated from Waldron High School in 1934. She loved working for the Lord, gardening,
camping, fishing, and watching birds from her kitchen window. She also enjoyed cooking and canning, and she always
seemed to have some to share. Geraldine held Good News Club in her home for many years, and led many children to
the Lord through her teachings on the Bible. She gave music lessons and taught Sunday School class to both youth
and adults. She often would find time to help young mothers with Bible Study in her home. She was a member of the
WCTU, Women’s Missionary Society, Munson United Brethren Church, served as a church pianist for years, managed the
Waldron Kountry Kitchen Band, and loved going to nursing homes and putting on programs for the residents. She said
that “just to see them smile” was worth it all. Before moving to the Bryan Rehab Center she was very active in the
Hillsdale nursing home and dearly loved playing for the Sunshine Singers.
Surviving Geraldine are three daughters, Margaret (Jim) Gunder of Waldron, Mich.; Audry (Richard) Andrews of Bryan,
Ohio; and Marilynn (Robert) Frank of Bryan; one brother, John (Joan) Robison of Ney, Ohio; seven grandchildren,
15 great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was a blessing to
many and will be missed by all.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; four brothers, Lawrence, William, Paul, and Arthur; and a
granddaughter, Paula Brandeberry.
A funeral service for Geraldine will be held at 11:00 a.m. at the Eagle Funeral Home in Hudson with the Rev. Paul
Webster and Rev. Dr. Samuel Wickard officiating. Interment will take place in the Waldron Cemetery. Visitation
will be held on Tuesday from 5-8 p.m.
