William J. (Bill) Simmons, 80 of Waldron, Mich., passed away on Sept. 26, 2007, at Heartland of Wauseon, Wauseon, Ohio, of lung disease. He was born on May 28, 1927, in Alvordton, Ohio, the son of William M. and Dora (Borton) Simmons. On March 17, 1952, in Augsburg, Germany, he married Lydia W. Dolch and she survives.
Bill was a lifelong resident of Waldron. He served in West Germany and Korea with the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Leonard T. Simmons V.F.W. Post named in his brother’s honor. He retired from Aro Corp and was also a bus mechanic for Waldron Schools. For many years, he was in charge of the Waldron Water and Sewer Department. Other family members surviving Bill are a son, Alfred W. “Fred” (Esther) Simmons of Cleveland, Ohio; two daughters, Ingrid Simmons and Linda (Gary) Landel of Oscoda, Mich; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. His parents, four brothers and one sister preceded Bill in death. Per Bill’s request, there will be no funeral or visitation. The family requests no flowers. Arrangements are entrusted to the Brown-Van Hemert Funeral Home in Hudson, Mich. |
